"We choose bed and breakfasts over hotels for the personal touch," Evan explains. "It's about the connections and those special moments."
And this is the part most people miss: the story behind the company's name. "The Gather Company" is an invitation to come together, to build connections, and to find a sense of belonging, in contrast to the transactional nature of many large brands.
The mansion itself is a masterpiece, built in 1888 by the renowned architect H.H. Richardson, who also designed the iconic Allegheny County Courthouse. It was originally the home of Russell Boggs, a visionary who played a pivotal role in shaping Pittsburgh's North Hills.
Boggs, along with his business partner Henry Buhl, established a department store in Allegheny City (now the North Side) in 1869. He also developed an electric trolley line, known as the Harmony Route, connecting Pittsburgh to his hometown and beyond.
The mansion has eight full suites, each with its own unique charm. From the Mr. Boggs Room to the Mini Suite, every space tells a story.

Under the new ownership, the mansion has undergone careful renovations, focusing on cosmetic updates while preserving its rich history and the legacy of the Boggs family and former owners, Jeff Stasko and Karl Kargle.
With its proximity to major sports venues, the mansion is often booked for game days and special events.
"People return year after year because of the location and the homely feel," Kennedy adds.
