Jill Zarin Fired: Real Housewives Star's Bad Bunny Rant Backfires (2026)

A Controversial Rant Leads to a Show's Demise!

It seems a fiery outburst about the Super Bowl halftime show has cost a reality TV star her new gig. Jill Zarin, a familiar face from The Real Housewives of New York (RHONY), has reportedly been fired from the highly anticipated E! series, The Golden Life, following her strong opinions on Bad Bunny's performance.

Producers at Blink49 Studios, the company behind The Golden Life, confirmed they are no longer moving forward with Zarin's involvement. In a statement to Variety, they expressed their commitment to upholding company standards and values, implying Zarin's recent public comments did not align with them. This decision came shortly after news broke that Zarin, along with fellow RHONY alums Luann de Lesseps, Ramona Singer, Kelly Bensimon, and Sonja Morgan, were set to star in this new show, which was slated to begin filming in Palm Beach, Florida.

But here's where it gets controversial... Zarin's initial video, which she has since removed from Instagram, detailed her strong feelings about Bad Bunny's Super Bowl halftime performance. She controversially stated it was "the worst halftime show ever." Her primary concern seemed to stem from the performance being in Spanish, which she felt was "not appropriate" given the celebration of the United States' 250th anniversary. She also specifically called out Bad Bunny's stage presence, describing it as "grabbing his ‘g’-area" and deeming it "totally inappropriate," especially with "young kids watching."

Zarin, aged 62, went on to suggest that the performance appeared to be a "political statement," noting what she perceived as a lack of white performers. She even speculated it might have been an "ICE thing," though she claimed she wasn't taking a side. And this is the part most people miss... she also commented on Lady Gaga's appearance, remarking that the singer had a facelift and was unrecognizable, even requiring her to Google her face.

Her comments quickly drew a response from other Bravolebrities. Bozoma Saint John, a star from The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, hit back, pointing out Zarin's apparent contradiction: "'I’m not taking a side,' yet very clearly taking a side." Saint John, on the other hand, expressed her admiration for Bad Bunny's performance, praising its "beauty, culture, history, and message."

Interestingly, Zarin wasn't the only RHONY alum to face scrutiny. Bethenny Frankel also shared, then deleted, a TikTok video questioning whether major entertainment events like the Super Bowl should be platforms for "personal, cultural, political views." She pondered where the line should be drawn, acknowledging that unavoidable world events might necessitate discussion, but questioning the appropriateness of personal expression.

What do you think? Should halftime shows and award ceremonies be a platform for personal or political statements, or should they remain purely entertainment? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below! Would you have tuned into The Golden Life if Jill Zarin had remained part of the cast?
