Keanu Reeves is set to star in a new sci-fi action movie for Warner Bros., directed by Deadpool‘s Tim Miller. The untitled project, previously known as Shiver, has been described as having shades of Tom Cruise’s Edge of Tomorrow and Blake Lively’s The Shallows. It follows a "smuggler (Reeves) trapped in a time loop after a deadly double-cross while on a job in the Caribbean Sea, resulting in him surrounded by bodies, hostile mercenaries and thirsty sharks alike."
What makes this particularly interesting is that F1 actress Callie Cooke will play the female lead opposite Keanu Reeves. Cooke, who played a struggling pit-stop tire gunner in Brad Pitt’s F1, will now play a scientist in the movie. The addition of Cooke to the cast, alongside other new actors like Nicholas Duvernay, Steven Waddington, Abraham Popoola, Bobby Holland Hanton, and Anastasia Safonov, brings a diverse range of talent to the project.
In my opinion, the inclusion of Cooke is a smart move by the filmmakers. Her experience in the racing world and her ability to portray a strong, capable woman will no doubt add depth and authenticity to her role as the scientist. I'm curious to see how her character interacts with Reeves' smuggler and how their relationship develops throughout the time loop.
The project is currently shooting in the Dominican Republic, with massive water tanks being used for the open sea sequences. The film is slated to hit theaters on August 13, 2027.
Keanu Reeves has a few other projects coming up, including a dark comedy directed by Jonah Hill, titled Outcome, which is set to be released on Apple TV on April 10. Reeves is also set to return as John Wick in a new video game about the legendary assassin.
What many people don't realize is that this movie is not just another action-packed adventure for Reeves. It's an opportunity for him to showcase his versatility as an actor and to explore a new genre. I'm excited to see how he handles the time loop concept and how he develops his character throughout the film.
In my opinion, this movie has the potential to be a real standout in the sci-fi action genre. With a strong cast, an intriguing premise, and a talented director, I'm confident that it will be a success. I can't wait to see how it turns out and to experience the unique blend of action, sci-fi, and time loop elements that it promises to deliver.
