Percy Jackson Season 2: Stars Talk About Book Adaptations and Fan Expectations (2026)

Percy Jackson season 2: actors reassure fans about book-to-show changes, while admitting a touch of nerves

The cast of Percy Jackson and the Olympians is actively addressing concerns about how the TV adaptation diverges from the source material for season 2.

In the new episodes, Percy heads to the Sea of Monsters to rescue his friend Grover and to defend Camp Half-Blood, following the sequence of Rick Riordan’s second beloved novel in the series.

Experts note that season 2 will introduce more alterations than season 1, yet actors Dior Goodjohn (Clarisse La Rue, daughter of Ares) and Daniel Diemer (Tyson, Percy's cyclops half-brother) emphasize there’s little to worry about.

Goodjohn shared with Radio Times that fans are likely to feel pleased. She explained that changes can make her nervous because fans treat these books almost like sacred property. Yet she believes the final product will be executed brilliantly, and readers who know the book will be pleasantly surprised by the result.

Diemer echoed that sentiment, stressing that the core heart of the books and the characters remains intact. He argues that the show’s aim isn’t to reinvent the story but to bring the entire narrative to life on screen while preserving Percy Jackson’s essence. If preserving that spirit is the priority for fans, he believes they will be very happy.

Rick Riordan, the series author, weighed in during a conversation with Radio Times. He noted that the team anticipated a generally positive reception to many tweaks and engaged in extensive discussions about them. Riordan emphasized a shared commitment to honoring the books’ legacy and meeting audience expectations. He added that adapting from one medium to another inevitably requires changes, but the respect for the source material remains central throughout the process.

As for the specific changes and fans’ reactions, only time will reveal their impact. One certainty stands out: anticipation is high for a return to Camp Half-Blood.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians season 2 premieres on Disney Plus on December 10.
