Will Davison's TA2 Debut: Racing at New Zealand Grand Prix (2026)

Will Davison to Make New Zealand TA2 Start: A Supercars Star's Trans Am Debut

The renowned Supercars driver, Will Davison, is set to make his debut in the Trans Am (TA2) series as part of the supporting events for the 70th New Zealand Grand Prix, which will take place in just a few weeks. This marks not only his first time behind the wheel of a TA2 car but also his first visit to the Highlands, adding an extra layer of excitement to the experience.

However, the journey to the Highlands won't be without its challenges. Davison will miss out on valuable practice time due to a GT3 test at Phillip Island the day before the event. Despite this setback, the Grove Racing enduro driver is thrilled to get back in the driver's seat of a V8-powered tin top.

"They've been incredibly supportive here," Davison expressed. "It's going to be fantastic! I've never driven a TA2 car before, but I've been a long-time admirer of the series. The TA2 cars always put on an incredible show."

Davison's enthusiasm is palpable as he prepares to rush to the Highlands, a circuit he's been eager to visit for years. He describes it as a remarkable track, venue, and place to visit, adding to the allure of the event.

"I'll be missing out on practice sessions because of the GT3 test, but getting to learn the circuit and have some fun in a powerful TA2 car is a dream come true," he said. "This summer in New Zealand is shaping up to be a memorable one as I tick off some long-held aspirations."

One of those aspirations is driving a Formula Atlantic car during the Historic GP at Taupo Motorsport Park, a lifelong dream that Davison recently fulfilled. During the practice session on Friday, he took laps in the Ralt RT-40 before handing it over to regular driver Greg Murphy for the first two races.

In the 15-lap finale, Davison had the opportunity to race the car, finishing in fourth place. His performance showcased his versatility and skill, further solidifying his reputation as a talented driver in the Supercars series.

This upcoming event in New Zealand promises to be a thrilling showcase of Davison's abilities, combining his Supercars expertise with the excitement of the Trans Am series. With his passion for the sport and dedication to pushing boundaries, Davison is poised to deliver an unforgettable performance.
